No Import of Step with color files in Vis 2021......Tried different files, all opened well in 2020, in 2021 they have one Material only.When will this bug fixed???
Did a quick test here. Got the same results in 2020 and 2021.
STEP 203 --> No color information imported
STEP 214 --> Color information imported OK.
Also note that STEP 203 doesn't actually support colours so we will never get them from that format
2020 SOLIDWORKS Help - Step Files (*.step)
The STEP translator supports import and export of body, face and curve colors of STEP AP214 files. The STEP AP203 standard does not have any color implementation.
Hi Ron, i never had this problem starting with Bunkspeed Shot. As you can see, eDrawings2021 can open it.
When importing the model in Vis 2020 , saving the project and reopen it in 2021, the colors are back.
But this cannot be the solution.
tried with an export from SWX 2021:
Export to STEP 203
- re-import with 3DInterconnect -> no colors
- re-import with plain SWX -> no colors
- view in eDrawings -> no colors
- import in Viz -> no colors
Export to STEP 214
- re-import in SWX -> colors
- view in eDrawings -> colors
- import in Viz -> colors
SWX / eDrawings / Visualize 2021SP0
i´m exporting from FreeCad, as always. Tried 0.16 + 0.18 but still the same result.
Also on 2021 Prof SP0.

FreeCAD was exporting STEP 214 files, not STEP 203 files. A setting likely changed. Double check your options for saving out step files from FreeCAD.
Open the step file in in your favorite text editor program (Notepad, etc) and read the header info to see what file type is being saved out.
I got the same issues same like you. If I get any solution then I'll let you know FaceTime
Found the Bug.
In Step-files with one Part only, you colored the faces.Vis 2021 doesn´t recognize this.Vis 2020....do.
In Step-files with multiple parts, the parts were colored.This files are imported correct.
