Is it possible to choose a sylinder in an assebly and drag it into a matching hole in another assembly?? Instead of dragging the entire assembly in and then have to mate the sylinder in the hole.. Works fine with a part so why doesnt it work with an assembly?

Yes, keep the two assembly opened and tile them. Drag the part you want to call in from one assembly to another. And then add the mates. You can also drag the part from window explorer.

  I want to drag an whole assembly into another assembly using the automatic concentric and coincident "snap" function for a hole and a sylinder. Want to be able to select an sylinder from a small assembly and drag it into a larger assembly and mating it concentric and coincident at the same time. For example: Select the shaft in an elctric motor assembly and drag it directly into an gear mating it at the same time.
