Hi, guys.

I was wondering what do you think about managing stardard components inside SW PDM's vault. We all know we can use Toolbox as another folder within the vault, but I really want to know about your experience and best practices with other library components or customized part folders.

In fact, the typical problems we must deal with this workflow are:

• How to add an standard component to a project and manually edit its name without modifying the original part name in the standard components folder.

• How to add an standard component to a project and break its reference to the standard components folder.

• How to grab a component copy from the standard folder and edit its name with an automatic serial number; all this without change the original part inside the folder.

Maybe the toolbox or another standard folder has to be outside the vault, in order to edit the parts only inside the PDM environment. So, what do you think?

Regards.
