Someone posted you can get monthly subscriptions for some items of 3DX stuff. I just looked up and it appears you can get 3DX creator on a quarterly basis.
Sooo....any possibility that Solidworks will go to a monthly or quarterly subscription?
you can already get SW product on a term license option. limited to non-network license and 3 month term, I believe. We did it here for SW PCB for a short term project/long term trial.

Without the up front down stroke? That seems odd. You can get 3DX creator for a quarter for $504. SW standard with one year subscription is $5290 which would be $1322 a quarter.
the one seat we did was about 1/3 the first year cost for the 1/4 year term. it really seems more geared for those that have some licenses, but have a temporary need for a few more.
talk to your VAR if you want actual numbers for what you want.

I was actually thinking about this for home use more than anything else. Every once in a while I have a project at home I'd like to use SW for. Right now I typically use Fusion 360 or remote in to work. It would be nice to be able to pay for a month worth of SW at the yearly subscription cost without the up front cost. So if an annual maintenance fee for premium was 2K you could pay ~$175 and have premium for a month. If you only wanted standard at $1200 a year you'd pay $100.
This would also work out perfect for the occasional moonlighter. Maybe you don't do any side work for six months, but you're still paying for the down stroke and annual maintenance working or no work. So you get a side gig, you turn your subscription on for a month, quarter or whatever you need. When you're done, you no longer have to pay.
Seems like a potentially untapped market at the moment.
