I have a question. I have a part that is used in 10 assemblies I want to replace it with another in all assemblies.the Update References tool can only replace the part in an assembly?is there a solution?
One option could be to rename the existing Part to the 'new' Pat name. Check it out then overwrite (as a new version) with the replacement model. Those Assemblies would now all reference a different file next time they are opened and the 'latest' version of that component loaded. I don't think it's a good idea though...
I obviously don't know the reason for the change, or how different the new part is, but if you are replacing one part with a different one, would you really want that to happen automatically at higher levels? Is there not a change process involved that ensures that the replacement part doesn't introduce any problems where it is currently used? plus I would assume the parent's would also need to be re-issued with all associated periphery (BoM's, Drawings etc) so some degree of peer checking would also be part of the process.
