Dear All,

This may be dumb question. So pardon my ignorance.

I have two circle in a sketch **with relation** as shown in this picture.

Now I am trying give tangent relation between two circle.

Why does solidworks always trying to make the tangent relation to nearest point?

Is there any option to make a tangent relation to farthest end?

I know we can achieve this, if we make the Circle 1 to be larger than Circle 2.

But my initial sketch condition is, Circle 1 will always be smaller than Circle 2.

So please share your comments or answer.

Thanks.

If you add a point on each circle where you want the tangent to be you can add a relation to them and you will achieve what you are looking for. The problem seems to arise whereby the relation must be between entities not a part of an entity. So, while you can place a point at any of the four 'corners' of the circle (or along the arc) those parts of the circle cannot be selected for alignment.
