How to make an inset tab?

First, sheet metal is not my everyday tool.  In recent weeks though, I have needed to create several sheet metal models.  I have found myself creating this specific sort of tab several times but I can't seem to find a way that is robust.  My current method starts with a cutout notch to the distance back from the edge where I want the tab to be and then creating an edge flange using a sketch to the width that I need with the relief.  If the thickness of the metal ever changes then this will require manual updates to fix it.

What is the best way to create a tab like this?  The length of the tab appears to be close to lining up with the edge of the base but that is purely coincidental in my case.Inset Tab from Base Edge
