I deal with imported parts a few times a year. I rarely work with surfaces. Every time a I do, its a nightmare. Why don't they make SW in such a way, that when you encounter a surface body, you draw a sketch and delete the surface?
I imported a part from STEP and as always, I use Import Diagnostics to repair any gaps or surfaces so that I have a good body that I can assign a material to.
Today I get a model and the surfaces are all FUBAR'ed. But the part looks symmetrical, so I just want to delete the bad side of the part, do a circular feature (or mirror) thicken it and be on my way.
When I try to make a sketch and delete one side of the surface, nothing happens. I tried trimming it to a plane that runs down the center, and I can't get that to work either. I hate surfaces.
Here's what the part looks like now:
Circled is the FUBAR region. Attached is the part file. Any help would be appreciated....
BTW, I assume after the bad part is cut away, I can do a circular feature make the part whole again. If not, let me know what I have to do.
THANK YOU in advance!
