I have confusion over understanding the "Natural option" in surface sweep in the PM. Could you explain what is in the Help file?
Isn't it just what it says?So the profile is always normal to the curve (i quess on a normal plane perpendicular to the tangent of the curve)
Hi Maha Nadarasa ,
I understand your confusion: I did some tests and actually I don't see any difference between natural and minimal twist. Even when using not perpendicular paths.
True, very little difference
Hi Søren ,
very little difference
Can you elaborate? Do you have an example which shows the difference?
If you look at the examples below you can see a difference in the shape. The sweep path here is a 3DSketch with a spline across a few different planes. Also turning on zebra stripes make it a bit easier to see the twist if you compare the red circled areas.
Thanks for the example!
The help file also has some good examples. These are a bit more obvious! 2020 SOLIDWORKS Help - Surface Sweep PropertyManager
Even with box profile, I can not see any difference between minimum and natural.
Only if the profile sketch in under-defined, I get unexpected twist, as described in the help.
Could you place these two variations in an assembly? Just to see the actual twist.
I can not see the difference in my assembly.
