Let's say you have a bunch of components selected for an explode step. You move them in Y. Now in the next explode step you want to move those same components in X. Is there a way to do this quickly without having to manually reselect all of the same components over again for the next explode step? I'm on SW '18. Thanks!
Create a selection set first. You can even name the selection sets if you like.
Then selecting the selection set while the selection area is active will populate it.
@Dennis: sometimes I can get the right angle and box select. Sometimes what I want is still buried inside a big assembly.
@Dan: I believe this is the official SW way, but it implies a degree of planning that I simply don't possess. I want something quick while I'm working that doesn't involve premeditated division of my assembly.

Well, here is one thing that you can do:
No need to create the selection set ahead of time....you can do it on the fly
If they are already moved away from the main assembly can't you just window select to easily grab them all?
I know what you are asking for, a 2-dimensional move. It can probably be done with some special knowledge of SWX explosions, but I don't know how. There are many times I would just like to give both an x and a y distance to move the components in the same explode step.
