Anyone here has seen this error mesg after closing SW? is there any fix for it?
This looks related to an Office365 update breaking functionality related to the CAM add-in(which uses Access for it's TechDB).
The real fix we've seen so far is to install the following Access runtime redistributable from Microsoft.
AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255
You get it all the time?
Watch task manager and see if you can find the program for this dialog..
Also check Events.
Getting the same message & have to force quit SW through Task Manager.
Where is “check events” located in Task Manager? Mind taking a screen shot?
cross link w/ this thread:
the operating system is not properly configured to run this application.
When SOLIDWORKS Forum is active add-ins, it gives this error. You should be unactivate Solidworksforum from add-ıns menu.
You can also set it to default 0.
Great!! How did you discover this?
For such problems, I first check the add ins
Tried it, your suggestion didn't work even after rebooting. Any other ideas?
This worked for me. My registry keys were different and I wasn't sure which one was which so I set them all to 0. That fixed the problem. I went into SolidWorks and enabled some of them and the problem reappeared. My issue seems to be with SolidWorks CAM 2020. For now I'm leaving all the add-ins cleared and that seems to be working.
Thanks, as long as SW works.
Just to confirm, are you referring to clearing the add-ins directly within SW or going to the Registry Editor and setting them to 0? I assume you are talking about directly within SW.
Steven, I just fixed the same issue on my PC. Need to change the registry values to Zero. (Not change within SW)
It must be something else on my Window 10 Pro because I deactivated all add-ins from SW. Looks like a chat session tomorrow with Microsoft to resolve it.
Anyone else have ideas?
I changed the value to zero on the first add-in folder. Can you post a screen shot of which folders you set to zero?
Please report back with your findings. I am seeing this for the first time as well. Mine clears up when I disable SolidWorks CAM in the registry. Though this is a work around, I do not consider it an acceptable solution. I hope a Mod looks at this and sheds some light as well.
Updated the video card driver was my fix.

Thank you Alex. it fixed the problem !
yes it did, please put the settings in the Registry Editor for the subfolder add-ins back to 1 not 0.
Unfortunately that didn't work for me.
Is there a way to figure out which is the CAM add-in?
Just uncheck all of them in SW.
Try reaching out to MS Tech Support and let them share your screen.
For a few days after following Christian Chu's advice, the problem has reemerged. I took your advice of removing ALL the add-ins, yet that didn't work either. So had to resort to the Task Manager to Quit from SolidWorks to close it down.
