I want to design a camera lens filter adapter, but as someone who is just learning SolidWorks, I'm not sure of the sequence of events. Does this sound right at a high level?

• sketch the cross section of one half of the filter adapter (without threads)
• "extrude" that cross section to form the ring (the whole filter adapter)
• add the threads to the front and the rear of the adapter

If that sounds like a correct approach at a high level, then I'll begin to dig into the specifics and start sketching.
