Hi,
I am having an issue with the loft part of this design. It is a silicone mold that is pinched closed at the top by a "peg". The main problem is lofting, I have added pictures of the lofting areas that are a problem. The other problem is that I cant to the "pinch" properly, is there a way to model that "pinch" correctly as it would be in the real world?

Is there any advice on the real life "pinch"? Is there a better way to model this (for instance I dont know how much material would actually bulge out at the side, in my model I just guessed). My next challenge is to model the clip, any suggestions on how to model it so that it makes a proper seal in real life?

Michael Mullineux Is one answer - perimeter. The perimeter of the lower part and the "pinches" should be the same. In real, they differ slightly due to the plasticity of the material.

Thanks for getting back to me, is there a way to draw/relate/constrain the 2 so that they have equal perimeters?
I will get the height using the arc length of the "pegged" splin equal to the length of the "unpegged" straight line.

I don't know the terms of use just a simple idea.
I am not sure need to try.
The first method that comes to my mind.
Boiling two miles into a straight iron. (amateur work may be healthier if it is processed in CNC)
long, maybe the middle part may be loose, then one more bolt can be added in the middle.

Hello Michael,.. . you're getting a lot of helpful ideas... bcuz there are so many ways to do that.. Omurs was very good.. and also Krzysztof.. both are better than mine.. I just started playing because you mentioned (real world).. so I left the ends alone to play with the transitions or folding if needed....
-delete face (w/fill) as you see was to clean up the bad thicken face (SW tries but makes bad geom using shell/thckn) and it includes a tangency option.. it's a great tool for cleanup.. so.. by experience you observe and clean up as you go.
-lofted surface... although sweep is very good.. I chose to measure the transition/offset and loft (boundary also works well) and I then increase the tangency to 2.0 to get the bulge.
-neat/feature tree... it's just experience with reducing/leaning the features by using what sketch or geometry was/is already used.
...and... it is always easy to dissect someones work easier than your own.. so it is worth looking at your own work (or others) and thinking about how you do it faster or more efficient..

Create global variables:
R - radius lower part
L - side length lower part
T - part thickness
Create equations:
r = T ("pinch" radius)
l = ((pi*R)+L)-pi*r (higher part side length)
