Hi everybody!
Right now I'm using Solidworks PDM 2017 and I would like to Open / Check Out multiple files to migrate them to PDM 2019. Is there any way to easily save for example all .SLDPRT documents from a project folder? I can use advanced search to find all the documents that are match for my criterias, but is there a way to download all of them to my PC with a few clicks?

On the other hand I guess it is not what I'm looking for right now.
I would like to do something simpler in the first step. I would like to make a local copy to my PC of all the files from Solidworks PDM 2017 that are match my criteria. For example I would like to make a local copy of all the 100 pieces ".SLDPRT" documents that starts with the word "belt". Making a local copy one by one of all the 100 results would take a lot of time. So I would like to make a search in PDM 2017 to find all these files and make a local copy of them with a few clicks. Is it possible?

Sure! You can drag and drop from a search result into a desktop folder.
Now this sounds like something I'm looking for, but I guess it doesn't work in PDM 2017. I cannot drag and drop anything from the search result to a local folder or am I missing something?
The only thing I can do is right click on a single search result, click Open Check Out Document and click Open/Check Out. It makes a local copy to my PC but it only works with a single document. Selecting multiple files disables the right clicking option.
However in the PDM folder tree I can select multiple elements and make a local copy by again right clicking on the selected files and clicking Open Check Out Document then Open/Check Out. But unfortunately my search results not necessarily under each other in the PDM folder tree, some of them are only present in an assembly somewhere.
You got me...when you said PDM, I wasn't thinking you meant "Workgroup PDM". You can do my idea with PDM Standard or Pro, not Workgroup.
Would Pack and Go work for you? You could use it to copy directly into PDM. Highlight a lot of files, the use Pack and Go's search feature to check/uncheck the files you need. (You can get this dialog by double clicking on a column heading.)
Another option could be to clear your working directory, checkout all of the files you want, then copy from your working directory..
If you want to do entire projects....like perhaps a good percentage of the Workgroup vault, maybe you'll need to buy the ExportWorkgroup tool? ExportWorkgroup - YouTube (e-mail info@cati.com to learn more)
I'm sorry, my bad, yes I meant Workgroup PDM.
Both would work more or less. Checking out an assembly makes a local copy to my working directory, yes. My only problem is I have multiple assemblies I have to check out this way.
Let me give you an example. I have this AOO project folder. It contains 28 assemblies.
All of them contains multiple parts. Some of them starts with "AOO-P-" (these are the project parts I need right now) but there are a lot of other stuff like mirrors, lens, DC motors, parts from other projects etc. I only need local copy of the AOO-P- project parts, the others are irrelevant for me right now.
Selecting and checking out all assemblies is not really an option because with the lens, mirrors and other stuff it's like 25.000 files which takes too much time for my PC (and there are only about 200 AOO-P- parts and I don't need the other 24.800 files right now). So I wanted to find an easy solution to search for the AOO-P- parts and only make a local copy of them.
So yes, I would like to do entire projects so I guess ExportWorkgroup tool will be the solution.

Did you mean upgrade them to the SOLIDWORKS 2019 format?
I recommend looking into the File Version Upgrade Utility: 2019 SOLIDWORKS PDM Help - Upgrading SOLIDWORKS Files
It will automate that process.
Remember you cannot use SOLIDWORKS 2019 with PDM 2017.
If you really did mean to say PDM 2019, you don't have to update the files when you upgrade the vault.
