I have used extruded cuts for quite a while by now, all of the sudden I get an error and the cut does not appear in the 3D model when I click the green check mark.
For threads 22, 23 and 24, make the depth 0.251 or more
I guess they're not merging with the main body properly.
What is the name of the feature that is giving you trouble?
I am using "Cut-Extrude" to cut.
Attach your edited file here.
Are there any unresolved issues indicated with yellow caution triangle in the feature tree?
What happens if you do a Ctrl Q?
What happens if you delete the sick constraint (coincident relation) in Sketch28?
What happens if you delete the sick constraint in Sketch81?
Why are you using modeled threads? Will this part be 3D printed?
I have baked through and fixed or deleted all the issues in red or having the caution triangles, knowing that I could rebuild them as necessary later as needed.
Nothing happens when I do a Ctrl Q, for future understanding what should?
Now still have the same issue, as shown here the hole should be cut as indicated but does not at clicking the Green Check mark,
Restart SW, if problem still - restart Win, if problem still - reinstall SW...
Actually, now I am unable to get the other sketches to cut as well.
Multiple ZTG. Make diameter bigger or smaller.
Tried that - NO LUCK!
The thing that jumped out at me was you are trying to cut through all (based on your comments) but in the image you show you have selected "Up to Next" . you also do not have any selection of what surface or feature is :Next" in the Direction 1 box.
I have tried 'Through All, Up to Surface (selecting the top of that boss.) nothing seems to work.
In every other time I have applied 'Up to Next" and it shows a 'YELLOW' preview, as it does here it has worked.
I've rebooted the computer and restarted SW as Krzysztof Szpakowski suggested. Still no success, as mentioned earlier 'Ken Brunskill@ J. Mather on Aug 4, 2020 3:09 PM' I am unable to get other sketches to cut as well.
Really puzzling and frustrating!
OK, If there was "something wrong" with the extrude end condition, SW would display some message. If SW accepts the cut operation confirmation and no result is visible, probably is damaged installation or a problem with the multibody part / hidden object? Maybe operation work on other body? OR SW2020
When I suppress Thread22, the extruded cuts are working, however need some repair in the sketch 80 and 81 to get proper bore position. Might be a much to much thread? You could move all the threads to the end of the feature tree, and look if your problem is solved if you suppress them all.
Teemu & Frank, that solved the issue, thank you! :-)
Now can anyone explain why the depth of the threads in a completely feature stop the Extruded Cut from working? How in the world did you discover this anyway? Would be really useful to know should that or something similar occur again.
I truly appreciate you folks helping here, I was really frustrated - this project is my 1st attempt at designing, and not following (redrawing in 3D) someone else's 2D design.
I would not have known how to reinstall as Krzysztof Szpakowski suggested as I am using the student version of 2019-2020 veteran subscription.
Anyway I am off and running now, and very pleased with all of the responses and patience you folks have show this old man. Cheers and stay safe!
How in the world did you discover this anyway?
If there is trouble, just start suppressing features to see if the problem is solved. Son't forget to do a total rebuild after each change.
Changing the order in the feature tree also helps to determine what feature stops another from working.
