I have data cards with Revisions that don't match. I can't see where the mistake is made.
In the example below both should be at rev A-2. Instead they are different.
You need to have set revision permissions in both the folder the file is in and the workflow state it is currently in. You may be logged in as an administrator, or even the Admin user, but you may be part of a group that doesn't have those permissions, and hence is overridding. If you are logged in as the Admin user - I generally leave the Admin user out of any groups.
Check out our Q! Tip on this subject. It should help.
Q! Tip - Set Revision Manually or Automagically in SOLIDWORKS PDM - YouTube
Believe in The Q!
Our revision scheme is subjective instead of automatic.
A file does not automatically go from A-1 to B-1. It might be A-2. I'd love to go got automatic rev bumps. But that is another conversation.
One lesson I learned the hard way was that users often take drawings or files outside PDM and work on them. Like on their desktop or a network drive. This can lead to them changing custom properties that are mapped to variables like Revision and when the files are brought back into PDM, their datacard updates to the new Revision value. The Revision on the datacard is linked, yes, but the PDM Revision counter can override this variable to get your Revisions back on track.
To fix this, always add a "Set Revision" to %nextrevision% action in the transitions following an edit state! This way, the Revision on the datacard will always match the Revision counter in PDM. I had to learn this one the hard way too.
Lastly, I noticed the field in the datacard, isn't Read-only but it needs to be. It is possible that a designer updated the Revision custom property in SOLIDWORKS model and it updated the card variable.
Ah ha, that's a good tip.
Let me know if you are able to fix this!
Yes, this will be part of our solution going forward. We needed to change the workflow to allow subjective revs.

I believe it has to be checked in to perform the revision adjustment. If it's already checked in, ignore me
Be sure that you have configured workflow state properly
This is what we are changing to.
Before it was not an automatic rev bump. Now it will be.
