Without prompting/warning, the Use same configuration as pattern seed component switches to Use named configurations.
I've had that happen too, but not much in the last year or two. What version are you using?
It's often self-inflicted without even realizing it, or at least that's what I believe.
Worked on my own projects for 2 years without having that problem and I'm having it now that I am fixing someone else's mess.
The same problem occurs with SW2019 SP5.0. No pattern has been found
I've been seeing this issue at random for quite a while. Currently on SW2020 SP5 and it's still happening. Incredibly frustrating.
Look to see if there are any files from previous versions inside the master assembly, perhaps that is one of the things that toggles the bug.
There definitely are. We recently switched to SW2020 and this assembly was made in SW2017 SP5 last year. I did witness the issue when we were purely on SW2017 though, so I don't know if it would be triggered by a mismatch, though perhaps it's something specific to the 2017 part files. Then again, I've recently made other assemblies where I've used our fastener parts from 2017 patterned over a hole pattern in a 2020 part and I don't see the issue, so if that is part of the bug it's not a guaranteed thing.
I've contacted my VAR and opened an SR with SolidWorks on this issue. I'll post here if they come back with any useful insights.
I was asking because files from previous versions seem to trigger bugs more often
