Graphics issue

We have seven Dell T7400's with Quadro FX1700 video cards. So far I am only having this issue with one of them.
Several times a day he gets graphics issues: sometimes the black background, sometimes screen freezes and even crashes. This morning he called me and I saw Solidworks on and the feature manager and toolbars behaving normally, but his drawing screen was his desktop. I closed out the drawing and reopened it and the drawing was frozen, no pan, zoom or anything. I closed out the drawing again and in the same session reopened it in Software Open GL mode. The drawing was a little sluggish but everything did function. I closed the drawing again and opened in normal mode. Then everything worked fine, but I don't know how long it will last.
My VAR suggested uninstalling the drivers (they are the latest for the system/card) while in safe mode and then reinstalling them. I will probably try that, but I have redone the drivers at least three times and the issues still keep coming up.
Working in Software Open GL mode suggests that there is some kind of video issue, but I'm not sure how to deal with it further at this point. I don't believe the company will spring for a bigger video card, especially since the others are generally working fine. I don't think Dell will replace it unless it's certifiably fried.
Any suggestions...?
