So Siemens announced that Solid Edge is getting Sub-d modeling. So when can we expect that from SolidWorks?
And sub-d modeling is what?
The way you get organic shapes into prismatic modeling tools. In a nut shell you basically start with a basic shape like a sphere or block and then select "cages" of points on the surfaces and pull them around.
..sadly, DS is pushing a web service only... where as Creo, Fusion360.. and others have had SubD for years... I don't think DS or SW is listening.
So when can we expect that from SolidWorks?
When you pony up the cash for 3D Sculptor
Yeah, the marketing material says "seamless integration with SolidWorks desktop". Has anyone asked what the definition of "seamless"? I've yet to see any videos of how these two work together...they are based on two different modeling kernels, are they not?
What you really should be asking is where is the Beta* for 3D Sculptor for 2021 Beta?
Read my lips: "3D sculptor (along with any 3Dexperience modeling tools) will never succeed as long as there is no available trial product that current SW users can try out."
*Dassault has a policy that all add-ons are available for Beta testers.
