It seems SWX can only analyze welded joints with perpendicular surfaces only...
The Edge Weld Connector is only available in SOLIDWORKS Simulation Professional and SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium. You should be able to apply the connector between non-perpendicular bodies in the analysis.
For Face Set 1 you will need to select the face of a shell or sheet metal body. That face should belong to the terminated part. Face Set 2 may be a solid or shell or sheet metal body.

Correction to this reply, the edge weld connector will work on non-perpendicular faces that are <5deg due to the equations involved in the edge weld formulation.
Accurate weld beads can be modeled at any angle.
Working with solids in Solidworks one has fine control and fewer doubts. [the uncertainty here remains in getting the welder to replicate the exact shape]
Part attached; this weld is gapped to avoid over bonding the bodies.
How would you analyze the "weld" only in this case? The "Edge Weld Connector" option won't work now...
As a fused solid, which is what a weld is.
hmmm... I didn't try that before. So it seems we don't have to use the "edge weld connector" at all in this case.
