I'd like to start a discussion on tips and tricks for how to best overlay renderings on photographs utilizing plates and HDR environments. We are looking at taking photographs but I want to make sure they are usable and will be suited for photo-realistic renderings.

I see some basic tutorials on matching the plate perspective, but beyond that, not a lot.

A few areas that i'm particularly curious about are below

1. How would you best generate accurate reflections and match lighting without creating an HDR to accompany every back plate?

2. Floor shadows are calculated off a flat floor. If the floor isn't flat, how could this be handled?
