I need to create a tapered helical ramp in Solidworks 2018 and I'm having a hard time getting it correct to the point where it can actually be made. I can get the ramp portion but not the sides of the ramp. And quite frankly, I'm not sure of this is the correct way to perform this operation or not.
The ramp will take 1/8" of a revolution (45 deg) and "sink" only 4". The outer OD is 54" and the ramp itself is 5" wide at the top tapering to 1 1/2" at the bottom. (part is attached)
I can make a constant width ramp quite easy. I use the outer helix as the path for a Sweep and start my sketch on a plane on my right plane. To get the taper I made a sketch on the top plane and projected it onto the ramp and just cut it out. While that gets me the ramp, I can't add the 1/2" tall side walls.
Any help here?
Title says sheet metal(SM) but file is not in SM. I do not think it is possible in SM but it is possible in non SM.
