i have 5 standard license and 5 professional license. When standard license are all used up it doesn't give me the option to load professional instead? how can i make it open professional and pull a license?
It sounds like you have network licensing, if this is the case then the way SOLIDWORKS uses licenses is it always needs a standard license. If you buy 1 Standard, 2 Pro, and 1 Premium then you will see the following in the SNL.4 Standard
SOLIWORKS will always pull a standard license first to make higher tiers available for others. When you need a pro product it will pull a pro license as well but the standard will also remain. As soon as you no longer need the pro license it will return this and continue using the standard license.
Here is what the license manger is currently showing. As you can see we are showing 5 pro licenses and 5 free. And 5 standard licenses 4 free. If the above statement was true wouldn't the pro screen only show 4 available?
The pro licenses will still show 5 because you have 5 that can be used. If the person who is using standard then uses a pro feature, you will see 4/5 standard free and 4/5 pro free.
If you are maxing out on your current licenses and you also dont always use all 5 pro licenses then i would recommend you change you licenses with your VAR to something like the following.
That way you get 1 more standard license and the pro licenses that you were not using anyways get converted into a standard. Your subscription cost will go up by ~$700 only for adding a license compared to what you have now.
