Hi Guys,
I have a CHS (60.3 x 5.4mm) designed to support a horizontal SHS. Loading combination of 2584N dead load and 4kpa live load is applied on top of SHS (100 x 5, total length 2500mm) and the loading area is 920 x 100mm and 100mm offset from the end. I have ticked the "calculate free body forces" in the property and choose the "direct spars solver". But when open up the reaction force dialogue box, the magnitude of the "entire force" is extremely small which is not correct and shown in attachment 1.
When I select a circle highlighted in the attachment 2 and press the "update" button, the number is not updating in the "select" column. I think this might be related to the small number in the "entire model" and it will be rounded up to 0 anyway.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks in advance.
Reaction force is a result quantity that is only available on mesh node where you applied a Fixture. So if you ask for Reaction Force on a face where you did not apply a fixture, you may just get a reaction force of zero, even though a von Mises stress plot may show high stresses there.
If you are looking for how much force is transmitted from a solid body to another through a face where the two solid bodies touch, then the recommended tool is the Free Body Force.
