I want to start adding consumables to our assembly drawings. In this case it is epoxy. We designate .001 oz on the assy BOM. How do I make ".001 oz" appear in the BOM as a quantity? I prefer not to break the links in the BOM.
I have a part with no geometry. So, it will populate the BOM list when I add it to the assy. But how to get .001 oz into the BOM?

yeah.. if it were applied to a specific place.. I'd do a incontext copy offset surface where used and thicken so it represented volume.

There's two methods, both essentially the same, except how need to document this.
If the amount is constant for a part for every assembly, then create a custom property (foe example "AssyAmount") and set this property to the required text.
If the amount varies for a part for every assembly, then in each particular assembly, modify the component reference for each such part.
Either way, in the BOM, insert a column next to the QTY column. Select a custom property column type or the component reference column type.
Insert a new column to the right of the QTY column, of the equation type.
The equation uses an iff to text "AssyAmount" or component reference and if blank, then return the std QTY column, otherwise the "AssyAmount" or component reference column.
Once it's all working, hide the "AssyAmount" or component reference column used and the std QTY column.
Edit the header of the equation column to QTY.

Hello Brent.. add a volume, material and it's properties... which would equal .001 oz.. you don't have to show it.. it could be hidden.
