I am trying to design a rack and worm to translate rotational motion to linear motion for a project. Due to a space constraint It was decided to use a rack and worm assembly since it takes up less space than typical rack and pinion assemblies. I am having trouble mating the rack and worm in the assembly, I have tried using both gear and rack and pinion mates with no success. Are there any tricks to get it to work or other methods of mating? Picture of similar configuration attached.
