File Corrupted as a Result of Check-In

My coworker successfully checked a drawing into the vault. The following day he checked it back out but is now told the file is "corrupt and cannot be opened". Unfortunately he already deleted the previous local copy and there are no other versions in the vault. The error was verified to be independent of PDM user or local machine.

1) Has anyone else experienced this problem?
2) Does anyone know a way to fix the file?
