I have a table with x-coordinate, y-coordinate and radius of the circles and I want to import these data on Solidworks and draw the circles.
I believe this will require a macro.
If so, I suggest you edit your post and change from Detail and Drawings to API-Macro to get the attention of the macro pros.
Something you may want to consider is the time it takes you to write a macro vs the time to do this manually. May be easier, though time consuming, to do this manually versus writing a macro. If you are going to be doing this often, then the macro could save you a tremendous amount of time!
Hello Antonia Carchia,
Although Mr. Johnson is correct on whether it's worth the effort for you to this, if you're not familiar with the SW API then I'm sure someone in the forum will code a macro for you as I don't believe what you're looking for is too complicated.
However, you must change your post to API/Macros to get their attention, as shown here on the home page:
I found this macro in another post and modified it to draw circles.
See Importing Points... Zoom error (removing files so it will post)
You'll need a text file with 4 columns: X, Y, Z, and Radius.
Z will be zero for the 2d sketch.
No column headers in this text file.
The units are in millimeters. I haven't had time to make the macro ask for units, convert, etc.
When you just run the macro, it will ask you for the text file location. Navigate to it, select it, and click "Open."
It will draw the circles on the Front plane. You can change the sketch plane or further manipulate the sketch afterwards.
Thanks to Matthew Magnifico, Josh Brady and Artem Taturevych for the hints to complete this macro.
Hope this helps,
