Looking for the instruction set for a *complete* uninstall ("clean install") of SW2019.
About to upgrade to SW2020 and my 2019 installation has some issues.
Complete Uninstall of SolidWorks
Feel free to use our guide on clean uninstalls, you can skip step 10 if you have windows 10.
or you could use: format c: - it's almost easier to do this and reinstal whole OS
Windows 10 can do a reset faster.
It's a scary prospect because they have you remove .Net frameworks and C++ libraries... Which other programs may rely on. Now SW will reinstall them, but the version may be newer and BAM now something like Mathcad or Autocad could be broken...
The time I did it, it worked. Though the instructions my VAR sent was dated and the library version numbers didn't match.
Best bet would be to send in a support ticket and see if your VAR will walk you through it.
.Net and C++ should all be up to date. Windows update will update them anyway.
To be "safe", write down what you uninstall, download from MS and reinstall.
Is any one set of instructions more "complete" than another?
It's more likely that the instructions will be older in some instances. Make sure the instructions are created by a VAR or other reputable source, as Fred posted.
You can start with a "Registry reset" for SW.
Took less time and usually clean a lots of thing up.
I had 2016 to 2020. Never did full uninstall.
Current have 2018-2020 running.
2016 was uninstalled.
When I move to 2020, I'll uninstall 2018.
