Slow STEP File Translation. Is This Normal?

I've been using SW for 22 years. Lately, I have had to translate some medium smallish sized assy's into STEP files. This smallish sized assy took 33/41 minutes to translate.

If I translate to ParaSolid X_T, it takes about 11 seconds. I understand that the SW platform is built on the parasolid kernel, which makes for a much better, faster, more accurate translation.

So my question is, have you experienced very long wait times for STEP 214 file translation?

  • The parts are about the size of a couple shoe boxes. Plastic injected molded, with lots of ribs, small radii and draft. But no curvy swoopy stuff, mostly flat and round features.
