How to remove unnecessary parts from disk?

I have Assembly designed with i.e. Part1, Part2, Part3 and Part4.
Each part is separate sldprt file in folder.

If I remove Part3 from assembly and save, still Part3.sldprt is in folder.
How to remove unnecessary parts from disk?

Kinda dirty workaround but you can try. File > Pack and Go. Uncheck the option for flatten to single folder. Save a new location. Delete the older files and replace with the new copied files.

This way is known to me, I search another, less inconvenient.

Use SolidWorks explorer to find where a part is being used. If there is no usage of the part, you can delete it manually.

tadeusz, are you saying that even after you delete a part out of an assembly it still is showing in your windows explorer folder or in your feature tree?

if it is in windows explorer you just need to delete it there (in windows explorer). i don't think that it you were ever able to delete a part from an assembly and have it completely delete the file from your computer.

  The dirty method I have used is, load the assembly in SW, then using Windows Explorer delete the parts that you don't think are used anymore. With the Assembly open in SW, Windows will not let you delete the parts that SW loaded when you opened the assembly

    But watch out for parts that are used by other non-active configs.

      Would this be an option?
      
      Design your parts 'top down', or otherwise known as 'in context' of the assembly, making them virtual parts, then if you delete them from the assembly, they will be gone! If you want to make them 'real' parts later, you can save them externally.
      
      If you go with virtual parts, I suggest reading all you can on them, help files, forums, there's always pro/con to anything.
