Paul wasn't trying to do the work for you. He was showing you that it can be done.
Now that you know that it can be done, you should be able to do it with a few trial and errors.
Flex is a tricky thing to wrap your head around. It took me about 30-40 tried to begin to understand it.
As wrote Deepak Gupta and before Craig Schultz for this model you must use Loft command. Flex give you similar but other geometry
Flex:
Loft
Understood. Personally, I don't know if flex is the right tool for this job or not. If I was pressed for time, I would probably do it with a loft, simply because I am not well versed in the flex tool. But if I had some time, I would probably try a whole bunch of things.
One thing you might want to try (to take a page out of Alin's book), is to run a challenge, like one of these:
SWPUC - SOLIDWORKS Power User Challenges
That way, people are likely to try out different ways. We tend to get a lot of people asking us to do their school work for them. So when someone asks us to model something for them, we tend to be a little "gun shy" and specifically NOT do the work, but show that it is possible while waiting for a model from the original asker. So this might be the single biggest reason why you haven't seen someone come up with the exact model that you posted.
Not anyone....a select few
But you could also do it with multibodies and a loft. What does your teacher want you to do?
