Poor SW2016 performance on working station.

Question asked by Maciej Zawartka on Apr 22, 2020
Problem: Poor SW2016 performance on working station.

While working at Solidworks on my master's thesis, I noticed delays and trimming. It doesn't matter if it's a large assembly or a small part. Just waiting for the dimension to be edited in a simple sketch (not updating the solid, but displaying the window to enter the dimension during dimensioning) takes up to 10 seconds. In general, there is a problem with all operations. I didn't have such feelings on my old computer. I did the test with Solidworks Rx and compared it to the result with my laptop configuration on the SolidWorks website.

My configuration:
Dell Precision 5520
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 158 Stepping 9] (8 processors)
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro M1200 (drive from SW page)
RAM: 16 GB 2400 Mhz
SSD: PC300 NVMe SK Hynix 512GB
Windows 10
Soliworks 2016 Student Edition Last SP

Benchmark results:

What I have changed so far:
- I changed the GPU driver to verified by solidworks,
- Tried SW2018, with the same result,
- Ran SW Rx benchmark with results below.

Where can I find the cause of the problem of poor performance, despite having a cad station?
