Solidworks 3D printing modeling

Hi,

I have questions in regards of drawing 3D printing model. As the picture shows, I try to illustrate the 3D printing process through Solidworks drawing. However, I encounter difficulties while I tried to put polymer component into nozzle. Even though I successfully colored the polymer part, it still can't show up correct color for polymer part lies within the nozzle. How I suppose to properly color interior part of an object? Currently, I extrude the nozzle then perform another extrusion to form the polymer filament. Thank you for all the input in advance.

hard to say for certain from a screenshot - post your file for more detailed help.

but my first guest is that your two extrudes are merged into a single body. uncheck the merge option in the second feature.

  Or make a small gap between polymer and nozzle.
  Turn off merge would be easy.

  In my file the blue part is third time extrusion. I made the nozzle with simple extrusion and extrusion cut then add appearance with glass material for transparency. I made the polymer part (blue region) to have exact same diameter with nozzle inner diameter. Currently, I couldn't see through the nozzle and look at interior polymer part. Is there any tips that I can make the model similar to this art work which you can easily look through the nozzle. To be note of this filament has core embed in the center, you can also easily observe from filament before and after heating by nozzle.

Make your models as they are in real life, i.e., the nozzle and filament are different materials. As such I suggest you model these as separate parts and put them together in an assembly or you at least make sure they are separate bodies within a part file. Either of these methods will give you more control over their appearance.

Hi Jia, make a separate part it should help out what you looking for. try and let feed your output on the forum for further solution, if it does not work what everyone mentions.

Update:

I followed Frederick's instruction and finally getting closer what I want. By leaving the gap, you will be able to color the part properly. I'll keep updating and continue this post until I finish and show you guys the final result.

Once figure out how to color the internal part the rest is straight forward.
