I am able to double click the detail view note and type in the information. However, after clicking outside, the note goes to the default state. Please refer the pictures below.
P.S. I use Solidworks 2012 x64 SP 1.0
I'd like to help, but I can't remember how editing Detail View callouts worked 8 years ago.
Well, here's the interesting part that I just found out. The generated note was actually linked to the detail view, unlike let's say a section view note that is created as a "note". For instance, if I change the value of the Scale in the Detail View Note, it updates the drawing. However, the same doesn't happen with the Section View Note. I reckon the link between the note and the detail view could be the issue. Does this happen in the Solidworks that you are using?
I started using SW in 2009, and since then every version has had the behavior you described for Detail View notes work for Detail and Section views, with the notes inserted automatically and updating if the scale changed in the property manager. I don't believe I've ever tried inserting a label manually on a Section or Detail view, so don't know how they'd behave.
