Hi folks. Hoping to learn something from you all.
I've been asked bby my boss to make a simple K-style gutter (radius gutter) into a sheet metal layout with bend information. Creating the profile was easy. Extending it as a surface was even easier. Converting it to sheet metal failed.
I understand the error, but I obviously have so much to learn..
Error: "Cannot be a bend edge as there is a face for this edge which is non planar..
Ok, so, if you cant' have bends across non planar faces, how in the heck do you tell Solidworks "It's ok, we do it all the time in the real world!"
I would really appreciate some guidance here
Nate,
There are several ways to create in sheetmetal so it is time to try something different. Rather than sketching both sides of the material just do a thin extrude.
Obviously you will want to fully define your sketch. But now when you go to extrude the part you get the following options. I have already set my material in the sheetmetal gauge table but you can set it here as well.
I just set the direction to midplane and gave the part a 12" length to get :
By the way, I would have expected the gutters to be rolled.
