I am looking to add a distance between 2 points [10 inches] like Pic 1. My query is I can only do so after placing 2 "points" from "sketch" tab like Pic 2. Wonder how those dots (points) came up in Pic 1
P.S. I use Solidworks 2012 x64
thos 'dots' could be just sketch points located in the centres of arcs, or they could be very short centremarks.
Do you think the Sketch points could have been created during Assembly/Part modelling? I am positive it was not created at drawing. If it was centermarks does Solidworks creates it automatically?
If you just need to place the dimension then you should be able to select the arcs when placing the dimension. By default Solidworks will place the dimension to the center of each arc.
You are correct. Solidworks does not automatically highlights the second arc like it does with the first [Refer Pictures attached]. Although it does highlights the the corner point, we have to click on the second arc (manually) and not the corner point in order to get the dimension. Just out of curiosity do you know how those center "points" that I mentioned earlier came up? because I can say for sure those aren't the Sketch points created in the drawing.
