I encounter a problem when using the loft/boss feature. I am trying to design a surfboard and I need a 3D file. I have a few very specific, calculated profiles and 1 guide profile. The loft feature only calculates the first half and refuses to connect the next profile.
Does anyone knows the solution to my problem?
- Do the profiles need to have the same amount of points for the loft function to work?
- Do I need more profiles? (these are quite hard to calculate and I was hoping SW would do this for me)
The Tail SK and the LO Back Tail End sketches both have extra sketch entities in them. Use Tools, Sketch Tools, Check Sketch For Feature to help you figure it out. The tip sketch and the guide curve are also buggered, but that's for a different reason. You have to understand the function of each sketch and sketch it correctly or use the SelectionManager to pick the correct sketch.
Here's part of the mess your approach is causing:
Your job is to get all of these lines to go straight. These are the connectors between profiles, and this is why your feature is failing.
The problem is you have so many little sketch sections. And worse, the sketch sections are little lines and arcs. I personally would use Fit Spline to put each profile together into a single spline. Very much simplifies things, and gives you a cleaner shape. Lines and arcs are really not what these shapes are all about.
