I want to create a living hinge by laser cutting lines into MDF board. The problem I am experiencing is: When I flatten out my curved surface there is no indication of where the curved section starts and stops so I do not know where to make my cuts. I am also not sure if normal extrude cut and pattern is the best way to go about cutting the living hinge lines. 2ndly when I create the working drawing I want each cut to be a single laser pass not 3 or 4 passes per living hinge line (I dont want the laser to cut out a rectangle). any help would be appreciated.
Below is an example of the final product. I have attached my curved surfaces model just in case
In my opinion MDF is not a good material for this project. Plywood!
This is cutting according to the matrix. The density of cuts determines the hinge radius (and stiffness / durability). everything you need is on this screen.
In order for the laser to not cut rectangles, you need to do a 2D drawing, not model in 3D.
