Hi All,

I am looking to purchase a laptop for personal use. I will be using it for school work such as using SolidWorks at times and some other similar CAD software.

I`m just a bit nervous to go ahead with my purchase before I know if I can effectively use software such as SolidWorks with the selected laptop.

Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Laptop with the following specs:

- 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-1035G1 Processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.6 GHz).

- Windows 10 Home 64bit

- Intel® UHD Graphics with shared graphics memory

- 8 GB, 1 x 8 GB, DDR4, 2666 MHz

- 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive.

Will these specs suffice to use this software? I read online that the recommended RAM is 16GB with a fully-certified graphivs card to function correctly (see link).

Recommended PC workstation configurations for SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD

If I am to increase RAM size etc. the price of the laptop nearly doubles in some cases!

If anyone has advice for me that would be great.

Thanks,

James
