I am trying to check this file in with pdm so others can open up a plant layout that we are working on
It looks like the file has been deleted and destroyed. Can you confirm with your admin if in the physical archives 000071CA exists as a folder? If you have replication does this file exist on any other archive servers?
The file does exist, this error started after I had saved and when I was checking the file in to the vault I lost connection through the VPN when I reconnected the file showed that it was still checked out to me. Tried to check it in again and that is when I got the error. The only way I could get around it was to save it as another name and that worked. I tried to get hold of solidworks about this had no luck due to these lockdowns going around the world. there must be a fix for this sort of error, as you can loose links to the models and it is no fun to re-attach them again especially when you arfe working in large assemblies. we have been using PDM for about 4 months still new to me.
Josh is asking a slightly different question than what you may be are assuming. You see the file locally but he's asking to check with the copy of that file that is located on the server, under the archive folder.
If you lost VPN connection, that error may be appropriate because it indicates at minimum, loss of connection. If you could not check in via NEW VPN session, a quick test would be to 'Undo Check out', Check out and then check back in.
2020 SOLIDWORKS PDM Help - Undoing a Checkout
Undo checkout simply releases your ownership. I recommend you do this test only in the local vault view (Windows Explorer). Be careful, if you open the file in SOLIDWORKS to check back out, you will want to say NO to 'get latest version' as it's getting the latest version on the server and you don't want to lose your local changes.
If the above test works, your VPN configuration may be set up a bit uniquely, in which it appears to the PDM server that you are a different machine for each unique VPN session.
