Hello, I'm kinda new to using the program, but when I export my gerber file to a zip and send it to JLCPCB their gerber viewer does not recognize my board outline. Would I want to have an additional mechanical layer on top of my outline layer to solve this?
JLC viewer
Actual board outline
Thanks
Hi,
Yes you need a mechanical layer that describes the board outline. This can be created with just a few clicks. Look for Board Shape in the interface at the top when you're in the Home tab. Then choose Create primitives from boardshape. This will take the black boardshape you have and create a outline for it on a mechanical layer of your choice. Then when generating the gerber you just add this to the outputs.
I hope this answers your question.
