This mouse is suppose to have a different and better type of scroll wheel. I was wondering if this makes zooming in and out with the scroll wheel using Solidworks less tedious. Is it really much better if any? I have a Spacepilot that I feel is good for moving the model around but for a straight zoom-in and zoom-out I still use the scroll wheel.

I have been using one of these for about two years now and I love it, but it is mainly the shape and button layout that I like.
The difference in the scroll wheel is that you can switch between smooth scrolling and detented scrolling. I don't find that it makes much difference in SolidWorks, but it is very handy when scrolling through a large spreadsheet or PDF file.

I've had mine a bit over a year and now hate going back to "bumpy" scroll wheels. After getting used to the free wheel for scrolling/zoom, I set it to act this way for all my applications--but it did take a little getting used to.

The wheel is solid metal with a rubber grip band around it. So it maintains inertia quite well. I find I'll often give it a strong zing one way or another and then stop it with my finger. Very fast, also works extremely well for internet browsing (like long forum discussions) and other things. No more tedium.

I have an MX1100, which looks similar to the Revolution. Worth every penny. It takes some getting used to but I would never go back to a regular mouse.
