More strange behaviour in Solidworks Routing
Why is the pipe turning at right angles?
If you can, upload the ASM and the needed parts or at the very least show us screenshots of the feature manager as well as the design tables of the elements involved.
Just from a screenshot of your issue it's not really possible to make a deduction of why it does what it does
Have a nice one
Thanks for your response Peter. You're always so prompt
I think it is something to do with the route properties. So I created my own pipe and I created a valve and an elbow. My aim is to drag my valve into the assembly and for it to automatically generate 'The metric pipe' which I created and to automatically generate the elbows I created whenever I do bends. This is how I have set up my route properties:
When I place the valve everything seems to be okay
And it starts the routing as intended
But as soon as I click okay, this happens
1/ Using Route Properties is not obligated. If all is set up right it can help a bit if you have lots of different settings that you have to use often. E.G.: if you for instance have to use steel, PVC, GRP, HDPE, PP, Stainless steel, than it comes in handy. The reaso n being that at the start of a new pipe you don't have to manually select the pipe and elbows but simply can select a 'template'
2/ Check the elbow part, See if the CPoints are set up right
If I use my own pipe then it only seems to work if I set it up on route properties so it has the corresponding elbow, unless I customize settings when the route properties menu pops up in the assembly drawing.
I managed to get this working and I think it was to do with not drawing it on the correct plane. I initially drew it on the top plane and it did what it shows on the drawing but when I drew the pipe on the front plane, it worked as intended. If this was the case (and not something I have inadvertently changed but don't think so), you think there would be something to inform you in the component wizard or something to prevent you from progressing with it if drawn in the wrong plane. Did you manage to have a look at my comment on the tube drawing? Still haven't worked out where I am going wrong.
Thanks for responding,
