Hello,
just looking ideas how the handling of drawing templates, Custom Material libraries, table templates etc. should and could be handled within EPDM? Have you set different workflow for templates and material library etc. or are you using one workflow for all?
We have it set so, that the workflow is same for all of the files inside the vault and I find this a bit cumbersome as if user wants to add a new material, he has to have sufficient permissions and the file checked out etc.
Would it possible to set so, that everyone has write permission all the time without checking out but PDM would keep the version history?
We have a tool library in our EPDM that runs on a different workflow. We do this so that we can give screws and nuts etc part numbers and rename them after part numbers. Tool components can be altered easily and don't have any revisions tied to them because of the different workflow. When I Need to create a new bolt for example I just alter the length of an old one and save as a new file. Then I can check it in and "release" it so that this can't be easily altered unless someone actively goes in and unreleases, then unchecks but everyone is allowed These permissions.
Drawing templates are unfortunately still stored locally but we only have 2 CAD users so it's quite easy to send them to one another. I would also prefer this to be in EPDM for future Expansion or just General ease so will be keeping an eye on anyones tips.
