I have a demo of SOLIDWORKS_2020_SP1.0. How do you open the work area to start drawing? Yes I'm a complete noob to solidworks.
SolidWorks has tutorials. I recommend starting with this. Then Youtube ...
I've looked at a dozen tutorials and all of them start at the solidworks window where you can draw. I can't find that window and I've opened all the short cuts that were created by the install.
Click on any plane and after click sketch command. Unfortunately, my SW version has an old interface.
File -> New -> Part
Is that what you need?
Or select Home
And then select "Part"
I'm using 2019 SP5.0, so I'm not sure if 2020 looks quite the same or not.
ETA: Also, that sheet next to the Home button is also a "new" file.
If you have a model and you want to make a 2D drawing this is one way to do that. If you want to start a model follow some of the other suggestions on this post. You may want to learn some of the correct terms for solidworks. Please go through some of the tutorials before you proceed.
