Wireframe view - unusable

I need to align the hole in one part a feature in a part below it, so I changed my display from shaded with edges to wireframe. It has made Solidworks unusable. Any pan/tilt/zoom causes the program to hang for over a minute. It may hang to the point I have to close SW, or it might even completely lock up the computer. (That's happened twice this morning.)

SW 2019 SP5. NVIDIA Quadro P2200.

Is this normal for SW? Is there a setting I need to change when working in wireframe? In shaded with edges it's fine.

Set nVidia to performance in nVidia Control Panel.
You have McMasterCarr fasteners with threads?
2019SP5, 88 parts assembly, no problem, GeForce 1070

  I did have some threaded rods in the assembly. Suppressing the threads made the problem go away.
  
  I would have thought drawing lines would be much easier than shading, not 1000x worse. It must be a SW thing.

    Line is what kill the graphic. Usually that's the different between GeForce and Quadro.
    Games running high frame rate with textures. Rendering from 4-16x screen size then reduce down.

i find that changing the setting helps when trying to do some in context sketching on another part. Changing to wire frame makes selecting the edges of round parts easier to click on to convert. To align a hole mate it or isolate the two parts to make sure that they are where you want them and move on.. wire frame can get to be to much in a large assembly to even decipher what your looking at

  I expected my vision to potentially get overwhelmed. I had no idea it would be that difficult for SW. It will completely lock up the computer. (no response to any inputs, including CTRL-ALT-DEL.) If I can wait long enough, it comes back. If it takes more than a few minutes, it is easier to unplug the computer and try again.

Evaluate the Assembly and see which parts take up the resources. You can also change the Image quality and use the freeze bar.
