state of rendering

This is more of a start to a conversation than a specific question. As a guy who's been around for a while, my head spins every time I think of rendering in SolidWorks. How many different names/products have we been through? And then of course was my sabbatical into Solid Edge where they use Keyshot. To be honest, I haven't even looked at Visualize yet. And of course we're being pushed to the 3dx platform, and who knows what awaits us there

Most of the time these days when I need an image out of SW, I just turn on shadows and use the regular RealView. I don't want to say I don't see value in a rendering, but based on the amount of work that goes into it, I get what I need from RealView.

I'm more of a modeler than a renderer, so I'm looking to show off the model, without necessarily showing off my bad rendering skills. Convince me that I need to be looking at Visualize.
