I was using the Student version for about a month, but then it suddenly started crashing whenever I opened the application.  It seems to have something to do with missing the database swbrowser.sldedb (an error message shows up before the crash).  I have tried Solidworks RX but its diagnostic said "There is no information on your configuration in our database. If you are experiencing issues with your system, you may want to visit the website to find recommended cards and drivers."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Solidworks, but the same problem kept happening.
