I'm coming form Fusion 360... so for me the Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts are all backwards on solid-works...
I've changed the zoom, however I would like to change the MMB to Pan and Zoom (without using the CTRL button), and the MRB to Orbit.
I've noticed people saying they are using 3rd party apps to make this work... that's kind of dumb I'll have to use 3rd party apps to make solid-works work after I spend thousands for a mature product....
If the people at solid-works sees these posts! Please add this much needed functionality to your awesome software.
Thanks
In fairness, SolidWorks is working fine. It's just different to what you're used to.
I agree it seems a bit of a limitation to not be able to modify these settings within the software as it would make transitions from other packages easier.
The way to get these kinds of ideas across to Product Development is to create / vote for an Enhancement Request. You can find these from the Customer Portal, https://customerportal.solidworks.com/ under My Support > Enhancement Requests.
A search for "mouse buttons" turns up a number of hits, including two candidates that look like what you're after from the software;
SPR 706777: Ability to customize the mouse buttons (rotate, pan, zoom).
SPR 292000: Would like to define mouse button mapping
Following those links then allow you to vote for the idea;
Another option worth considering is using a 3D mouse for view manipulation, which rather neatly gets around all the limitations of the mouse button settings.
